Responsive Website Design Explained

A responsive website design (also called Mobile Friendly), such as this one, uses a layout that reshapes the content to best fit the screen size of the device it is being viewed on (e.g. phone, tablet, laptop, etc.). The website determines the user’s screen size and then displays the site content in the best possible way.

As well as the site being adaptive, other features of responsive websites include:

  • Flexible images which resize to fit the changing layout and dimensions of the page.
  • Reorganising and repositioning of menus and other page elements to make the site more usable on smaller screens.
  • Incorporating mobile specific navigational features such as touch-screen sliders and interfaces.
